The plaid goes punk, gets slashed and digitally altered, and, in this way, puts British heritage in a new context. The identity of Scottish clans is mixed up with London’s punk rebels from the 1970s and puts a new focus on the iconic pattern. In the bright versions, electric blue pops up regularly, contrasted with green, yellow, and strong reds. Traces of the iconic Prince of Wales check are reworked with hefty orange/red stripes intersecting its graphic grid. In a more demure fashion, the plaid also comes less clashing, with different shades of green carefully balancing each other; it is deconstructed in a spiky grid, or dissolved in velvety clouds of turquoise and purple. Color and pattern are allowed to find new relationships for Fall 2011-12 and beyond.
